Layered Vintage is in Aus!

Isn't it always the best day when you get to meet your Insta friends in real life!?

I first met Jill from Layered Vintage when I featured one of her images as our Jumbled Insta Find. She messaged me to thank me and we hit it off instantly, so you could imagine my excitement when Jill announced she would be flying out from the US to run a two-day workshop in the Gold Coast hinterland in July!

Our Favourite Wedding Blogs

When I got married, blogging and pinterest weren't really around. I find this SO disappointing, as I spent a small fortune on bridal mags. I bought everything on offer in Australia and then whilst holidaying in America, thought it only appropriate, as I didn't want to miss a trick, to buy a sack full of bridal bibles and drag them all around the States.

Thank goodness for modern technology, we now have the most amazing bridal resources online and free, meaning you can save your money and get more confetti garlands for your big day.

We love meeting bride-and-grooms-to-be through our wedding registry service and hearing all about their unique wedding plans. It is a wonderful time of their lives and we always try and tailor their registry to the type of wedding they hope to have and house they want to create.

Here are our favourite Bridal Blogs to browse, they get us all warm and fuzzy and super keen to organise some sort of renewal of the wedding vows!

OUR TOP SIX PICKS:

100 Layer Cake is an all encompassing blog that really does resemble love. It is stunning. From flowers, dresses, jewellery, hair, shoes and cakes, this blog has it all! It has the most amazing DIY tutorials on how to make mind blowing decorations. It also has an amazing marketplace for wedding props (shipping is sometimes available)! And if you really want to lose yourself online, check out their pinterest page here.

Nouba Wedding Ideas is an Australian blog written by the gorgeous Tamarin - who incidentally had the most stunning bridal hair at her own wedding - in the world. Nouba is a fantastic resource for Australian Brides and has a special interest in getting the unique look and feel at your wedding, whilst not spending a fortune. Check out their fab section on shoestring weddings here. It is a beautifully designed site and has such a calming, down to earth feel. The layout is a little like pinterest, very image orientated, which makes it easy to find something you fancy, click on the image and get more of what you love. One of our favs!

Green Wedding Shoes is a one shop stop for Inspiration overload! The site's creators Jen and Jason, believe their is no 'right' way to host a wedding and therefore feature weddings of all shapes and sizes. Great pics on bridal showers, advice on wedding photo shoots and even inspiration on vow renewals!

The Lucy Chase Project is a really cool website! Never before have weddings and DIY style looked so good. Lucy (a pseudonym for a New Zealand travel enthusiast Aleisha McNiece) is all about unique, happy, and super cool weddings. I love the layout of this uber cool blog and feel personally connected to the people who have been featured. It is truly like looking through your best mates photo album. Imagine origami weddings and pom poms. I mean seriously. Just. so. cool.

Polka Dot Bride is another fabulous way to while away the hours looking at beautifully styled and executed weddings. It is an Australian Blog which has become one of the leading websites for finding inspiration for your wedding day. Polka Dot Bride is such a powerhouse when it comes to wedding planning! It carefully categorises everything and is a super easy website to navigate and in my case - get completely lost and absorbed. The attention to detail is inspiring and you really must check out their pinterest page (which has nearly 12,000 followers!) for some seriously delicious pics on Australian weddings.

Simply Peachy is a super cute blog that always puts a smile on our dial! They have these amazingly helpful posts which teach brides and grooms how to make and create things for your wedding. Sometimes it is hard to become an expert on something (like floral arranging) overnight but Simply Peachy is your self help manual online. They recently teamed up with Joyce from J.F Floral Couture to break down the components of a bridal bouquet which had us completely falling all over ourselves. Check out the sample below and click through to see this amazing blog.

Mikarla has spent the last 10 years as a floral designer working for boutique florists in Sydney and Berlin. She is regarded as one of Sydney’s most exciting florists blending her own unique style and vision into each installation.

Currently dividing her time between Sydney and her property in the southern highlands, Mikarla incorporates her own farm grown produce into her work to provide clients with locally sourced arrangements that compliment the season.

Mikarla strengths lay in clashing colour combinations, contrasting textures and the compulsive desire to search the markets, farms and the roadside for that special bloom her clients are lusting for.

“Floristry is in my blood. I love nothing more than twirling the perfect posy, getting up a cheery picker to hang floral chandelier or seeing a bride gush over her bouquet. I’m a more is more kind of girl”

Let's get married!

We couldn't help but be blown away by the stall holders that we shared space with at last weekend's One Fine Day bridal fair. It's not until you take time to talk to business owners that you realise how they can make an amazing day even more amazing for brides and grooms.

We were in a studio full of awesomeness at One Fine Day and we just wanted you to know how we would organise our next wedding (should we feel the urge!) Let's take a fast paced look at the organisation of a wedding....Jumbled style!

Once the proposal is made - often the hardest part - we would pop along to August and Pemberton jewellers to have them work some magic on the ring finger. The coloured stones are amazing and let's face it, we deserve it!

Before getting too carried away, it would be a good time to call Melissa Bowman who is a wedding planner extraordinaire! There's a certain feel about a wedding planner that's super duper organised, shares home made lemonade and oozes calm. Yes, she is the one who is going to bring this whole day together.

After chatting with Melissa, it turns out that a marquee is exactly what you picture on your special day. So it's over to Jock at The White Umbrella for the most spectacular marquees you have ever seen. There will be no stilettos stuck in the grass, no these marquees have timber flooring so you can dance the night away. Magnificent!

Now that the big ticket items are organised, invitations need to go out quick smart. So with some wonderful advice and clever design from Starry Night Paperie, it looks like guests will be actually be attending.

But they will need cake. And sweet treats. Enter Short and Sweet Designs, which was well worth the taste test by Sal and Pip! A 'cottage' industry that we have a feeling is about to turn into a 'mansion'.

And of course the big event wouldn't be complete without a fabulous Jumbled wedding registry. Picking out bright artworks and homewares is quite possibly the most fun you can have - and to know that your friends and family will purchase something you have handpicked (and will love) is the best bit. Read more about our Jumbled Wedding Registry here.

So at last, while all of the capable people around you take care of business, why not put your feet up and indulge in a little reading of White Magazine. It's one of our favourite mags for inspiration and all things lovely and white. Imagine if you ended up with your photographs of the big day in there! Best send them an email...
