Book Review - The Forest Feast
Book of the week in Jumbled is The Forest Feast by Erin Gleeson. Not only does this book share delicious recipes - it is also a feast for your eyes! Amazing photography, typography, and colour. The recipes are very visual, diplayed in a way that make it easy to take a quick mental snapshot of the processes involved.
Erin is such a genius. She says on her blog she creates “photographic recipe illustrations” that are mostly vegetarian and laid out visually. She hopes to inspire healthy recipe ideas anyone can make- dishes that are easy enough after a long day at work, yet impressive enough for a party.
The intense colour portrayed in Erin's book is just so stunning. They say you eat with your eyes and it couldn't be more true with this cookbook. I was raring to go after just a quike flick through the pages. The layering of texture and colour in the lentil salad suited not only the season, but also my mood on a recent Autumnal Sunday. The recipe was easy to follow, simple in proesses and absolutely delicious. A perfect weekend lunch.
Simple, yet elegant desserts feauture generously in Erin's book. I love her use of props! So colourful and not too difficult to try and recreate.
